The environmental impacts of poaching are sometimes clearly visible and sometimes more difficult to identify, at least in the short term. The most obvious impact is a depletion in the number of wildlife present in a given area. Poaching also causes suffering to the surviving animals, who must cope with the loss of their family members.
Nandi is a two-month-old white rhino who was found wandering around all alone, scared and confused after her mother was cruelly shot and killed by poachers.
Nandi managed to survive on her own for a while after losing her mother but she needed help. She was found and rescued by the kind hearted humans from The Rhino Orphanage. The orphanage is a specialist, dedicated, non-commercial centre that cares for orphaned and injured baby rhinos with the only aim of releasing them back into the wild.
Nandi settled in quickly at the orphanage where she is cared with love by her new human friends. Her evolution is very good. She loves to follow her human pals around!
